Grassy Roads Farm’s Story

Grassy Roads Farm is a dream come true. The name alludes to Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken. I thought it was fitting because I have taken, and continue to take, many roads that were “grassy and wanted wear” to get to where I am today.

Growing up, I always wanted to live on a farm, but never got the chance to do so. In 2012, that life-long dream came true. My husband and I purchased approximately 40 acres in Barren County, KY. It has rolling hills, forests, pastures, a creek, a pond, and an old tobacco barn. I absolutely love our land and am constantly amazed at the diversity of plants and animals we find here.

My husband and I are both wildlife biologists so managing our land in a wildlife-friendly manner is very important to us. Our goal is to manage the land for both sustainable, small-scale agriculture and optimum wildlife habitat.

Grassy Roads Farm is a Kentucky Proud farm. I raise ducks on pasture for egg production. Personally, I think duck eggs are much yummier than chicken eggs. I also keep bees on the farm. I typically maintain between 5 and 10 hives depending on the year and the season. I began harvesting honey for sale in 2019. Since I only maintain a relatively small number of hives, my honey harvests are limited each year. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing honey. Eventually, I may also sell nucleus hives (nucs) of local bees. Grassy Roads Farm is a division of Grassy Roads, LLC.
