Description:

Planting pollinator gardens for bees and butterflies has become extremely popular in recent years. However, the emphasis is usually on providing lots of pretty flowers for the bees and butterflies to forage on during the spring and summer. This is important, but what happens when fall comes and the flowers stop blooming? Where do the bees and the butterflies go for the winter? None of our native bees migrate and neither do many of our butterflies. These non-migratory butterflies and bees need year-round habitat, including winter habitat, not just places to feed when the flowers are blooming. In this class, we will discuss easy ways that you can provide winter habitat for butterflies and native bees, thus allowing your pollinator gardens to help our bees and butterflies all year long.
