Aug. 14 Pre-ordered Delivery and Aug. 15 Open House

It’s time for another open house! Saturday, August 14, will be my regular pre-ordered delivery in Bowling Green at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, August 15, will be my next Open House for Busy Bee Nursery and Consulting.

We found this monarch caterpillar on one of the common milkweeds growing in my garden. It still has at least one more molt to go as a caterpillar before it becomes a chrysalis.

Open House Details

The Open House will be by appointment only so that I have time to devote to each person who comes out and to answer any questions you may have. Each appointment is for 30 minutes. Use this calendar to view open appointments by clicking on the blue circle around Aug. 15. After clicking on Aug. 15, you’ll see a list of available times on the right. Click on the time that is most convenient for you and follow the directions to schedule your appointment.

Native Plants

The native plants continue to do well and amaze me with how much they’ve grown recently. After not having milkweeds for most of the spring, I now have big, beautiful rose / swamp milkweed and common milkweed in 3 qt and 1 gal pots. When they decided to finally start growing, they grew quickly! All my shrubs have done the same things and just gone through a major growth spurt.

The past month has been insane. Usually, my biggest concern for the nursery in July is keeping the plants watered. Most years, I don’t have to worry much about transplanting anything in July, which means time for other projects and I schedule accordingly. However, this year hasn’t been a normal year. I’ve had to do more transplanting in July this year than I’ve ever had to do, and because of that, I haven’t had a chance to bottle my 2021 honey harvest yet.

All my honey from this year is still sitting in food-grade 5-gallon buckets waiting for me to put it in the individual jars. I was hoping to have it bottled in time for the Open House, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. I think I’ll get to it by the end of the month, but at this point, I’m not making any promises. I’m so glad that honey doesn’t go bad. In the meantime, I still have a few jars of 2020 honey left.

Here is the list of everything I’ll have available for the pre-ordered delivery on August 14 and Open House on August 15. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be happy to help in any way I can.
